British Columbia trio facing drug charges in Saskatoon

Three Kelowna residents, including a 71-year-old man, are in custody and facing numerous criminal charges in connection with a drug bust in Saskatoon on Monday.

Saskatoon police made the first arrest during a traffic stop on Highway 16 at 10:45 a.m.  A 71-year-old man was arrested for possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Later in the afternoon, police executed a search warrant at a hotel room in northwest Saskatoon where they seized more than 5,000 illicit pills including codeine and diazepam, methamphetamine, an unknown substance, cellphones, drug paraphernalia, documentation of marijuana sales and more than $13,000 in cash. 

A 40-year-old woman and a 46-year-old man, both Kelowna residents, were both arrested.

The three face a total of 13 charges relating to possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a controlled substance and possession of the proceeds of crime.

No names were released.
